CanSkate

CanSkate is the official learn to skate program of Skate Canada. CanSkate provides kids with the best foundation for figure skating, hockey, speed skating and ringette. The CanSkate program is designed for skaters of all skill levels, so these sessions are the right choice for your new or intermediate skater.

PowerSkate

Get a step up on the competition with PowerSkate, a high-energy instructional power skating program geared to hockey  players. This program focuses on balance, control and agility skills including components of power and speed to enhance the skating ability required in game situations.

StarSkate

The STAR program offers the best-in-class figure skating curriculum in Canada, targeting athletes looking for a future in the sport. Taught by Skate Canada NCCP coaches, the program introduces participants to the basic figure skating elements to create the foundation for singles, pairs, and ice dance.

CompetitiveSkate

Skaters who wish to challenge their figure skating skills and who show potential as competitive skaters can participate in the CompetitiveSkate program. CompetitiveSkate is a program for skaters in singles, pair and ice dance wishing to compete in qualifying events within Skate Canada.

Annual Events

Christmas on Ice

Every December, the StarSkaters of Moose Jaw Skating Club perform for Christmas on Ice.  The annual show allows skaters to showcase their competition programs and some fun Christmas showpieces.Learn More About Christmas on Ice

Volunteering

The MJSC is a non-profit organization run by volunteers.  We need your help to run all of the regular skating programming AND to host special events.  Speak to someone on the board if you are willing to lend a hand!

CanSkate Coach Course:

April 20-21, 2024 Regina, SK

The NCCP CanSkate context prepares coaches to teach skating at the FUNdamental stage of development as well as deliver the CanSkate program. Coaches are introduced to biomechanics, skill analysis and quality delivery standards. CanSkate Coaches are eligible to coach at the CanSkate level only.

Pre-Requisites

  • Be a current Skate Canada registrant with a Skate Canada Club. 
  • Be minimum 15 years of age. 
  • Has passed at least one complete Star 5 Assessment.
    • If you do not meet this pre-requisite, please contact your Section Course Administrator.
  • Has completed the following Skate Canada eLearning training:    
    • Part A – Coaching Foundations eLearning course 
    • Part B – CanSkate Foundations eLearning course
       

Registration Fee $385.00

Online registration closes 9:00 PM on Monday, April 1st, 2024.
